Tapahtumien kuvaus: On 15.5.1932, Constable Karikoski was patrolling near the railway station in Hämeenlinna. At 8 pm, he spotted a worker named Kaarlo Salin coming out of a cafe with a Browning in his hand. Salin was clearly intoxicated, and since there had been a disturbance earlier at an evening party held at the people’s house in Parola, Karikoski decided to arrest Salin. When Salin noticed that Karikoski intended to arrest him, he went back into the café and placed the pistol by the window. Karikoski entered and took Salin out with him. When they were 25 metres from the café, a man came out of it and started shooting at Karikoski. Although Karikoski was wounded and Salin tried to stop him, he managed to return fire. Karikoski was taken to the hospital in Hämeenlinna, where he died on May 23rd. The perpetrators, both of whom had been wounded, were caught on the evening of the shootout.
