Tapahtumien kuvaus: On Friday evening at 9 pm on 17.6.2016, the Western Uusimaa Police Department received a report from Vihti. According to the report, a local 67-year-old man had fired shots at a tractor operated by a 17-year-old male relative on the neighbouring property. Several patrol units were sent to the scene. The area was cordoned off, and the police tried to establish contact with those possibly inside the house. When there was no reply, the police decided to enter the house at 11:30 pm. When they opened the door, the man inside began shooting at them with an assault rifle. One of the police officers fired three shots but was hit in the arm during the exchange of fire. The man stepped out of the house and continued shooting at the police officers, who had taken cover. Senior Constable Tomi Keskinen tried to pull back in order to help the team leader, whose arm had been seriously injured. At this point, the man shot Keskinen in the back from a distance of 35 metres. Keskinen died shortly after using his radio to report that he had been shot. The shooter continued shooting at the police, who returned fire. The shooter then took his own life as well. Keskinen had been a police officer since 2005.
