Tapahtumien kuvaus: On 14.6.1941, a cleaner working at Hotel Hansa heard screams from one of the rooms. A man came running from the room, passing the cleaner and entering the street. In the room, Mrs Helvi Salmi was lying on a sofa, bleeding. The police and an ambulance soon arrived, but Mrs Salmi died on the way to hospital. Detectives investigated the matter and found the suspect to be a man named Rolf Erik Lagerstam, who had escaped from a mental hospital in Nikkilä, Sipoo one week earlier. On the following day, 15.6.1941, Constable Eino Kukkula found Lagerstam in a flat on Köydenpunojankatu 7. When Kukkula was about to frisk Lagerstam, the latter took out a knife and stabbed Kukkula in the chest, killing him. After stabbing Kukkula once more, Lagerstam ran to the street. One day later, Lagerstam was arrested when he attempted to rob a store on Töölönkatu 50. During the robbery, he stabbed a female employee, inflicting life-threatening wounds. A Constable who was patrolling nearby managed to subdue him.
