Tapahtumien kuvaus: Constable Ahlqvist was among those assigned to inspect a train travelling between Pieksämäki and Mikkeli. While inspecting the train, the policemen encountered a drunken soldier, Åke Sundqvist, a resident of Tikkurila in the Helsinki rural municipality. Sundqvist had a bottle of alcohol, which the military police took away from him. A while later, Sundqvist walked to the conductor’s carriage, demanding to have his bottle back from the military police officer. When he did not receive it, he went back to his own carriage. Later, he returned again and asked Ahlqvist for the bottle. When Ahlqvist said no, Sundqvist stabbed him to death. The military police officer tried to arrest Sundqvist and was stabbed three times in the process. Sundqvist jumped out of the moving train and ran away, be he later turned himself in to the police in Mikkeli. Ahlqvist had been a police officer since 1925.
