Tapahtumien kuvaus: Police Constable Kankkunen from the Kontiolahti Sheriff’s District was assisting constables of the City of Joensuu. They had arrested a man named Antti Kinnunen, whom they were going to take to the police station. Kinnunen and those who were with him resisted the police. A labourer named Aleksanteri Kontkanen pulled out a knife and stabbed Kankkunen, and Kinnunen hit Kankkunen with his fist. Kontkanen also tried to stab another police officer. Kankkunen managed to reach the hospital by himself, but he died soon after having arrived. The men who had participated in the fight initially got away, but all of them except Kontkanen were soon caught. Kontkanen managed to evade the police until he was arrested in the vicinity of Joensuu two days later.
