Tapahtumien kuvaus: Constable Murtomäki was standing guard at the corner of Liisankatu and Snellmaninkatu. At 7:55 pm, a woman told him that a man had bothered her. Murtomäki approached the man, who suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed Murtomäki in the chest. Constable Lundberg and Inspection Constable Urja arrived at the scene and arrested the man. Urja put the wounded Murtomäki in a taxi to take him to hospital, but Murtomäki died on the way. Murtomäki had been a police officer since March 1945.
