Tapahtumien kuvaus: On 3.12.1930 at 5 pm, Constable Toivanen was at the railway station in Tavastila. As he was going to stop three men whom he suspected of selling illegal alcohol, the men fired three shots at him. After having shot Toivanen, the men boarded the departing train. On board, they fired several shots, frightening the passengers. The train signaller at Tavastila reported the incident to Inkeroinen, where the local sheriff and two other policemen went to the station to wait for the train to arrive. As the train stopped at the station, the bootleggers resisted arrest. In the ensuing shootout, one of them was hit by a bullet. The police managed to catch all four men involved: labourer Onni Vieno Hokkanen, labourer Veikko Allan Hokkanen, carpenter Albin Pekkarinen and the unemployed Lauri Kullervo Åberg. Toivanen died at the hospital in Karhula on December 5th.
