Tapahtumien kuvaus: Constable Räsänen was looking for a hidden storage of illegal alcohol in a forest near the railway station in Loimola. Suddenly a man named Tauno Vaittinen appeared from behind a rock and fired three bullets at Räsänen with a Stock pistol. One of the bullets hit Räsänen, fatally wounding him, but Räsänen also managed to return fire and hit Vaittinen. The wounded Vaittinen fled to Sortavala, where he was arrested. Räsänen had been a police officer for six years.
