Tapahtumien kuvaus: The State Police requested assistance from the Mobile Police Detachment to apprehend Soviet spy Veikko Henrik Pöysti. Pöysti had been tracked down to a villa called Hiekkaharju in Tikkurila. A group of 13 men led by Chief Inspector Rudolf Hagman accompanied the detectives of the State Police to Hiekkaharju. The police fired teargas into the building so as to force Pöysti outside. Pöysti started shooting from inside the villa, hitting Chief Inspector Hagman. Next, he shot at Senior Constable Innanen, who died instantly. Constable Artturi Risku and Detective Yrjö Kalmiala were also wounded. The siege lasted for more than two hours, and the police fired more than 1,300 shots during it. When it turned dark, Pöysti tried to run away, heading for a nearby field. He was hit by bullets from a submachine gun. Although seriously wounded, Pöysti continued shooting at the police until he died.
