Tapahtumien kuvaus: On 11.6.1941, Senior Constable Kiiskinen was on call at the Hyvinkää police jail. Among those in custody were two locals, Kauko Kauppinen and Voitto Kivelä. Kauppinen had committed numerous burglaries, and Kivelä was guilty of robbery. At one am, Sergeant Heikkilä, who was at home, received a phone call from the jail. It was Kivelä, who reported that he had woken up and noticed that the cell door was open and his fellow prisoner Kauppinen gone. He had discovered a wounded Constable Kiiskinen lying unconscious on the floor of the guard room. When Sergeant Heikkilä reached the jail, Constable Hietarinne, who had been patrolling, had already arrived. Kiiskinen managed to get up by himself and told his colleagues about what had happened. Kauppinen had asked for water and tobacco, and when Kiiskinen had come to the cell, the prisoner had attacked him, beating him unconscious. After having told his colleagues what had happened, Kiiskinen lost consciousness again. They took him to the Surgical Hospital by the morning train, but he died on the following day. Kauppinen was captured on June 22nd. He tried to escape once more but failed.
