Tapahtumien kuvaus: Jaeger Lieutenant Joki was intoxicated and caused a disturbance on the street in Vaasa. Senior Constable Lindgren took him to the police station. On the way there, Joki had complied, but when they had reached the police station, he suddenly pulled out a Browning pistol and fired multiple shots at Sergeant Järvi and Constable Lindgren. Both policemen died immediately, and the shooter escaped through the window. The other police officers at the station heard the shots and pursued Joki, but he managed to get away. During the night, he was found in the attic of a building on Rauhankatu. Joki’s actions were explained as follows: He had been so intoxicated that he had thought that he was fighting Bolsheviks at the Soviet border. Lindgren had worked as a policeman in Vaasa during two periods, the second time since June 1916.
