Tapahtumien kuvaus: The police had been informed that a well-known communist named Sulo Lehtinen was staying at a house in the area. Sheriff N. Kekkonen and three other policemen went to arrest him. The police knocked on the door, but someone inside claimed that Lehtinen was not there. A moment later, however, Lehtinen appeared in the yard and asked what the police were looking for. Sheriff Kekkonen said that they would take Lehtinen into custody for interrogation. Lehtinen drew his pistol and shot Senior Constable Kokkonen, who was standing next to the Sheriff. Lehtinen ran off, and during his escape, he shot at the police. The police also tried to shoot Lehtinen, but he managed to escape into the night and hide in the forest.
