Tapahtumien kuvaus: A wedding party was held at the voluntary fire brigade building in the village Kaukjärvi in Kuolemajärvi. Malakias Koli had been invited as a guest, but also to uphold order. A guest named Eino Mellanen was intoxicated and began quarrelling with another man. Koli stepped in to calm them down. After the wedding, Koli and his wife started walking towards their home. Mellanen followed them and stopped Koli. When Koli turned around to talk with Mellanen, Mellanen stabbed him in the chest with a knife. Koli died instantly. He had been a police officer since 1930.
