Tapahtumien kuvaus: On 13.12.1942, three men reported having spotted two men dressed in Finnish army uniforms in the vicinity of Soltinjärvi. Chief Inspector Koskimaa, Sergeant Laurila and Constable Vaittinen of the Lahti Police Department went to investigate the matter. There were several trails of footprints to follow in the forest, and Koskimaa lost contact with his colleagues when following one of them. Soviet spy Matti Lång, who had been hiding, suddenly started shooting at Koskimaa with a pistol. Lång ran away and, with the help of local communists, managed to evade capture for ten months despite a large-scale manhunt. Lång was eventually tracked down on 1.10.1943 while staying at the house of Frans and Elin Enroos in Kilpiäinen. Nearly 40 officers from the State Police, the Surveillance Department of the General Staff, and the Civil Guard arrived to arrest Lång. Lång tried to resist them by shooting and throwing hand grenades. When he tried to run away, he was hit by bullets from a submachine gun. Lång died from his wounds at Hämeenlinna Prison on 25.10.1943.

Tekijä 1: Lång, Matti; Soviet spy; Died in prison on 25.10.1943 from the wounds he had received during his arrest.
