Tapahtumien kuvaus: In the evening, Constable Kanervo went to the village Jakkula to visit the widow Aili Linnamäki, who lived in the Häntä house. The widow’s 17-year-old son Mikko Linnamäki and a worker named Juho Heinonen were also present. Kanervo stepped into the chamber and sat down on a chair. Moments later, Heinonen appeared in the doorway and pointed a pistol at Kanervo. Kanervo rose from the chair, and Heinonen shot him the chest. The municipal physician and police were summoned, and they found that Kanervo was dead and that Linnamäki and Heinonen had left. Linnamäki was spotted later that evening at a party held at the people’s house, and Heinonen was found in the early morning in a cellar. The police found out that Mikko Linnamäki, who did not approve of his mother spending time with Kanervo, had given Heinonen a pistol and talked him into shooting Kanervo. Linnamäki, however, claimed to have had nothing to do with the murder. Kaarlo Kanervo had been a police officer since 1925.
