Tapahtumien kuvaus: On 7.12.1944 at 12:40 am, the police were informed that someone had broken into a store on Mäkelänkatu 15. Constables Lumijärvi and Muurinen went there to investigate. At a doorway on Lohjantie 11, they encountered Juho Leonard Lehti and Jalo Erland Hautaniemi. Hautaniemi managed to run away. Lehti was frisked, and the police seized a knife that he was carrying. Muurinen went to investigate the crime scene while Lumijärvi stayed behind to guard Lehti. However, the policemen had not noticed that Lehti was also carrying a pistol, and he suddenly shot Lumijärvi and ran away. While lying on the ground, Lumijärvi tried to stop the fleeing Lehti by shooting at him. Lumijärvi died in hospital at 7:10 am. Lehti and Hautaniemi were arrested on 11.12.1944.
