Tapahtumien kuvaus: Late in the evening, the police were informed that someone was causing a noise disturbance on Koulutie 113. When Constables Verneri Keskinen and Aleksanteri Viksten arrived, the one causing the disturbance had left. When they went looking for him, they soon encountered a drunken man accompanied by two women. The policemen stepped behind the corner of a building to avoid being seen by the group, letting it walk past them. When the policemen then approached them from behind, the drunken man turned around and fired three shots, one of which hit Keskinen in the abdomen. The shooter ran away. Viksten arrested one of the women and went to call for assistance. Around midnight, the police were informed that a bleeding man was lying on Pispalan valtatie near Haulitorni. The man had shot himself. The women who had been apprehended identified the dead man as the one who had shot Keskinen.
