Karlström was intoxicated and began quarrelling with Michelsson. Constable Wikström heard about the incident and called the Sheriff to ask for permission to seize Karlström’s weapon. Wikström went to the scene with a witness, tried to calm down Karlström and asked to have his shotgun. Karlström suddenly raised the shotgun and shot at Wikström, hitting him in the left arm. Wikström shouted that he had been hit and turned away, whereupon Karlström shot at him again. The Sheriff and a physician were called to the scene, and they found that Wikström had died. Meanwhile, Karlström had run to his home, said farewell to his mother and shot himself in the garden. Senior Constable Karl Werner Wikström had become a police officer in Turku in 1922, serving there until his transfer to the Korppoo Sheriff’s District in 1933.
