Tapahtumien kuvaus: On 29.9.1941, Detective Seitaniemi was sent to Kolari to look for deserters hiding in the forest. When nothing was heard of him after the 6th of October, the State Police sent more detectives to Kolari to investigate. When they interrogated a man named Pekka Niva, they found out that one of his sons had shot Seitaniemi. Seitaniemi had come to ask Pekka Niva about the whereabouts of his two sons, and they had agreed to meet again on October 7th for further questioning. However, Niva had informed his sons, and one of them had said that he would kill Seitaniemi. Before Seitaniemi returned, Olavi Niva picked up a rifle. When Seitaniemi arrived outside of the house and took hold of the father Pekka to take him into the house, Olavi shot him to death in the yard. Olavi went to the deserters' bunker to inform the other deserters, and together they buried Seitaniemi in the forest. On 8.11.1941, Olavi and Eino Niva were in the bunker when it was surrounded by the police. Those inside the bunker fired a shot through the door, and the police returned fire with five submachine guns. Olavi and Eino Niva died during the shootout. Seitaniemi’s pistol and backpack were found in the bunker.
